To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the Novotel is joining forces with the artist Szczesny and presenting "Golden Sculptures and Paintings"
"Golden Sculptures and Paintings" is an ode to beauty. Diamonds may be "a girl's best friend" but gold is a more powerful symbol.
In his works, Stefan Szczesny seeks to portray a sense of the beauty that underlies life. His sensual feminine figures and his representation of the bounty of nature are typical of his view of paradise on Earth.
His golden paintings make reference to an evocative tradition that fits well with his artistic programme. He borrows from this tradition to create, or reinforce, an aura of splendour and abundance.
Szczesny created his first "Golden" paintings in the early 1990s. These works often represent maternity, and make reference to Christian paintings of the Madonna and Child, reinterpreted in a non-religious way as a symbol of life and vitality.
To date, fourteen golden sculptures have been created. They symbolise the concrete embodiment of the golden paintings, and are a complement to these paintings.
